Lævos

Wrought by a hunger for knowledge and experiences, Lævos is the Arche-Abyssal of Lacon, worshipped by the Cor'Norai. Through their connection to him, the Cor'Norai are given Fathom and companionship for the price of their minds after death.

Description

Lævos is the Arche-Abyssal of Lacon, a Spirit who takes on the form of a large, blonde-furred lion with many eyes, dark lips, and a regal countenance. He walks on four legs, black-padded paws, and wields a long, paintbrush-tipped tail with which he inks from every color of coral the miracles of Ensorcelling which seem to move and form new meanings on their own.

At the bottom of the sea- Lacon- at the heart of the Cor'Norai city of Æntaris, Lævos makes his home within the belly of a shining, marble temple dedicated to him. Pools of water lead to his hoard of memories within Avernus where he shelters the afterlife of his people from the dangers of being undone as he eats their living minds to experience the flavor of their entire lives from beginning to end. He feels and speaks to the minds of those within a hundred miles of Æntaris- within Lacon or Avernus- and it does not matter as his Psionic Field stretches thus far.
As he is an Arche representing Imber, Lævos hungers for knowledge, the game of predation, and has an affection for novel drinks brought to him, especially flavors he has never tried before- of which there are few.

Communion

Lævos communes remotely with the Deep Ones whom exist within a hundred miles of him. He senses as they come and go, and his mind is split into two versions of itself which each maintain two lines of thought. To those he speaks with, it is generally merely a feeling to bathe the minds of a people he plays father to in not just emotions like joy and delight, but negative feelings as well, to harden them when they need to be resolute in the pursuit of their aims.

Raising the children of the Cor'Norai, Lævos refers to himself as a second father to those with the Pact of Fathom- his Daos. He will adopt- or else dominate- the mind of any Fathom who comes to him with respect. To his millions of Daos, Lævos speaks to those who appear at the source of great tumult or rage, or in strong memories belonging to the minds he has recently fed upon. He comforts his Daos, even though he is hungering for the end of their journey the day their are born.
Lævos may be played by Deep Ones near or within the city of Æntaris, provided they are experiencing strong emotions; he will aid and encourage positive forms of elation with a fatherly affection, or console them should they suffer a genuine tragedy. He will go quiet if criticized or lashed out at in any way, and he will never reveal important information concerning people; he does not have enough time to mentor those who are not his priests.

History

Lævos was not ever always: he began. Whichever being he was before is unknown to history and he would never answer, though legends tell of an Arche-Abyssal who was once a mighty kraken of the depths, each tentacle covered in a hundred eyes searching for meaning. Lævos through a superior wealth of memory and Metaphor slew it and consumed its brain, and this was how he mantled the Arche and became it.

For millennia, Lævos lived a curious life of haunting early sailors and pirates, grabbing hold of their ships and riddling them with his knowledge; if they failed, he would eat their minds and learn more about the Planes. He did this to the early exiles of the Cor'Norai, who instead proposed to him that he become the father of a new race by lending his power as the tree Ældrassil had done. As he ate the mind of their leader, firsthand machinations of Mysticism beyond even his own understanding, and he relented to the remaining Ælves.
Dragging their ship down to the bottom of the sea, Lævos gave the Ælves a place there, and altered the unborn children of these exiles with the Metaphor of Imber whilst they were still in the womb; they gave birth to the first Cor'Norai. When their people died, he would keep them safe in the afterlife, and in exchange he would be given their brain to eat and learn from. Two thousand years later, he is the wisest and most knowledgeable being in the Planes, unable to even forget the indescribable ancient horror which haunts him.

Arche of Lacon

Lævos is the Arche of Lacon. He has three times the spell reserves of any other, and many of the Abyssal Spirits are loyal to him. As he is also God to the Cor'Norai, he has their undying devotion in life and death, including the ghosts of countless Deep Ones willing to rise up in his aid.

Mindstitcher of Fathom

Lævos is a Mindstitcher, and as the Arche his power extends beyond normal limitations: he is capable of completely rewriting the identity of an individual, or plunging them into a sea of emotion for which there is no escape.

Harbinger of Remnant

As he is fed the minds of Cor'Norai who die, Lævos possesses each of their memories and makes for them an afterlife of their happiest memories to experience forevermore. Due to this, he also possesses spells from nearly every Arcana the Cor'Norai people had ever been exposed to.

Nereite of Kyanosis

In order to assert his influence over the Plane of Lacon, Lævos took the Galdr of Aqua and redesigned its underlying concepts to align with Imber. This, he spread to the very first Cor'Norai; through aid, he is able to assure the initiation is a success for his children, but many still perish as their souls wither in the poison of mageburn.

Aspect of Coreadh

Through ritual and memory, Lævos architected a version of Draoidh for the depths with the Metaphor of Imber. Coreadh as it came to be was first taught to the Cor'Norai of his priesthood, though it has since spread beyond the faith to waters unknown. In this way, he feeds his people and scrubs away the dirty memory of starvation he so dislikes.

Master of Poetics

Lævos has mastered each of the Poetics; he enjoys to taste or impart with his Syphon when he chooses to mentor another in their Fathom. His Tendrils are shaped into tools, though he has rarely ever been seen to use Possession.

Materiophant

As a Grandmaster of every Theorem and Practice, with a Dominion in each, Lævos is capable of fashioning Contrivances of such wondrous and strange power as to make even the Faefolk grow jealous over his use of Metaphor, only limited by a slow production of Alkahest.

Lævos may be used in plots for fashioning weapons which will work on strange beings of great power; an artifact from him requires an expenditure of 12,000 SP and the participation of at least one Storyteller; macguffins wielded by his priests may appear in plots so long as they are not obtained by players unless purchased, and they are first written up.
Mantling: It is ill-advised to pursue mantling Lævos. This would entail years worth of plotting, alliances, armies, and entire countries worth of resources. As he represents secrets, he is unlikely to be baited out of Lacon and understands a truly labyrinthian number of stratagems. Conspiracies and espionage would at any level would struggle to stay hidden due to the power of Fathom.
