Encaustum

From Antarok

A picture of a Encaustum, and a description.

Encaustum, Imberic Grist

The oceans of Antarok are in fact Lacon, the Plane of Imber. Within Her vast depths, the Dragons who once settled there have been inducted by the Arche of Lacon known as Lævos and his children, the Cor'Norai. Warped by Imber, so too was their Grist organ, becoming what is known as the Encaustum Organ.

Two-Of-The-Sea

Encaustled Govern only Imber. They also Embody a form of saltwater or freshwater flora or fauna, and Seek an object or something conceptual in the same way as their cousins. Together, these are referred to as the Krakon's 'Two-of-the-Sea' rather than the 'Three-Among-Many' Gristled Dragons are known for.

The Outer and Inner Alchemy of Encaustled work exactly as Grist.

Governed Breath

For their breath weapon, the Encaustled produce a purple ink from their throats which may be exhaled into a vibrantly opaque pink or purple jet of water to crush and wash away. They might also breathe a rain cloud to disperse their colored water over a wide area, speak secretly to someone else for a time in words only the target(s) can hear, or exude a vision obscuring fog of a similar tone. Such colored water acts as an ink, staining fabrics or dyeing them outright.

Encaustle may also be exuded raw to act as a form of Imberite Alkahest at a price of 5 SP per Gram and the necessary Spell Reserves.

Dragonbound

Upon becoming Encaustled, any Dragonbinding will be rendered inert; Lævos can personally bestow a form of Dragonbinding that confers Imber Spell Reserves rather than Saol.

Acquiring Encaustum

Encaustum belongs to the Krakon, most of whom live alongside the Cor'Norai; Encaustum shares its Spell Reserves with other disciplines of Imber, rather than Saol. Only those with a Krakon as their mother, or those gifted it by a Krakon who Embodies a form of fauna, or those with Grist warped by Lævos will possess this variant. The half-undead such as Devorare still use Imber rather than Geist. A player is free to play as an Encaustled provided their mother is a Krakon or they are the close friend of one who Embodies fauna; this is common in Cor'Norai.
