Below you will find information on the Cantrip of Natare or Eratan, common to Grist and its Variants.
Cantrip: Rialu / Ulair
Sources
Rules
  • Behaviors: Rialu / Ulair when applied to an entity or Objects will resist the “influence” of Arcana belonging to a specific Metaphor, while Hexes instead do the opposite.
  • Reacts only to attempts at arcane manipulation, such as a Terrar’i attempting to pull a sword enchanted by it from your hand, the Telekinetic Psionics and Link of a Deep One, or attempts to Possess with a spell of that same Metaphor.
  • Confers no resistance or weakness to the weight and energy found in Prime Elements such as mundane weapons, thrown rocks, battering liquids, temperatures, natural poisons, and winds.
  • Makes no distinction for beneficial spells cast by other entities or objects, meaning Rialu may resist or weaken healing while Ulair could accelerate it; one’s own Spell Reserves may bypass Rialu entirely, leaving entities or objects vulnerable to self-harm.
  • The Metaphor chosen relates to the type of Noble Alkahest used or else the Governed Metaphor of Grist, its Alkahaic Gristle, and variants of such. Each Metaphor must be learned as a separate Cantrip, e.g. Rialu / Ulair (Aether) 100/100 unless conferred by a Personal Arcana.
  • Conditions: Rialu / Ulair is only active when in contact with someone possessing a strong affinity for that same Metaphor (an equivalent-tier Personal Arcana, or Governed Metaphor), and must otherwise be Conditionally manipulated through Ensorcelling or Alchemistry to function.
