Dungeoneering

A Dungeoneer is a Dungeon Master. They facilitate a plot for another Player Character, earning rewards for themselves in the process. To be a Dungeoneer means you are a plot producer who is interested in creating fun scenarios and plots for others.

Rules

Dungeoneers must endeavor to understand the setting they are playing in, to discuss the level of conflict their writing partner is comfortable with, and to be fair and pragmatic with awards. When this position is abused or accused of such, it is better to notify a Storyteller to look at the issue first.

When the events of a story are disputed, inform each other that you are always free to submit the story and not canonize if either of you do not like the outcome. Understand that a Dungeoneer is on the hook for fair play as much as a player is, if not more so.
Dungeoneers are not site staff and should not act like such. They are players playing the same game as everyone else.
Alts: If you want to Dungeoneer a thread your character is in (posting in one thread on 2 accounts), then you may not spend Award SP, and you will add your word count together for the purpose of grading the thread (limited to 30 XP), and it will be considered a solo (20 XP) if it's just you and your Dungeoneer alt.

Jurisdiction

Each Dungeoneer has a jurisdiction they operate in, such as a city, settlement, or a type of wilderness. They must get permission from a Storyteller to expand their jurisdiction, telling them a little about the setting and their plans for it. Jurisdiction may be applied for in areas without developed content, and you may even establish your own city for it, if allowed.

Dungeoneers must get authorization to work with authored content they do not have permission for, including community approvals for significant changes like anyone else.
A Dungeoneer may be named for a Major Merit Quest when a player requests it, but the choice of who will run it is up to the Storyteller approving the ticket.

Application

If you would like to be a Dungeoneer, submit a thread to the Support Forum. As a test, tell us about the system and what you like about it, then give us an example of the rewards you might be able to provide at Base 1 Award SP, and how much SP Multiplier you would be able to send your player character for running an event thread with 2 unique characters. Should you be approved, you will be asked to create a Dungeoneering Profile in the Dungeoneering Forum.

Player XP

Dungeoneers earn Experience like any other player which may be assigned to one of their characters through one's Dungeoneering Profile.

Dungeoneering XP

Dungeoneers earn separate Dungeoneering Experience alongside the assignable XP they get from having their threads summarized. This is added up along a track from 0 to 2,500, dictating the rank and Base Award SP of a Dungeoneer.

Formula

Dungeoneers multiply their Base Award SP x 500 to determine how many Seasonal Points they have to work with when rewarding players other than themselves that they write with each season. This number is per-character, meaning you have a separate pool to work with for each player when awarding them.

Any single-item reward made with Grandmaster-level skills or else crafted with a Globe of Alkahest must be approved by a Storyteller, but awarding Globes is fine if you have enough SP.

Base Award SP Multiplier: 500

Base Award SP:

Your Base Award SP is determined by the Dungeoneering XP you've earned by dungeon mastering, reviewing, or developing content
  • 1: 0/2,500
  • 2: 100/2,500
  • 3: 150/2,500
  • 4: 250/2,500
  • 5: 350/2,500
  • 6: 500/2,500
  • 7: 750/2,500
  • 8: 1,000/1,000
  • 9: 1,500/1,500
  • 10: 2,500/2,500
  • Storytellers automatically have base 10 Award SP, but use their Dungeoneering XP to calculate their SP Bank.
  • Any Dungeoneer may offer to combine their Base Award SP with another to signify their support for plots they enjoy, but this will drain their own available SP Award for any benefitting player. They may offer this in the form of raw SP or a specific SP reward.

Dungeoneering SP Bank

A Dungeoneer tallies the numbers below for their own Personal SP Bank. During season turnover, this number is then multiplied with their Dungeoneering Base to be cashed out through one of their characters' Seasonal Points Rewards. Dungeoneers do not use the 500 Award SP Multiplier for their own awards, and this does not justify Master/Grandmaster skill creations.

Each of the bonuses below stack, and assume 1,500+ words from each author involved.

  • Bonus: +5 Finished an Open Sign-Up Event Thread w/ 2+ Unique Player Characters
  • Bonus: +10 Finished a Thread w/ a Unique Player Character
  • Bonus: +10 Finished a Thread w/ 3+ Player Characters
  • Bonus: +10 Finished a Major Merit Quest
  • Bonus: +2 Canonized a Thread, if also a Lorekeeper.
  • Bonus: Earned Development XP (Multiplier Equal to 1/2 XP Earned)
  • SP Bank Multipliers are awarded on summary; you will still get this bonus even if there is something wrong during Canonization.
  • SP Bank Multipliers are consumed and must be spent with the Base SP you had during the season turnover. You cannot hoard them.
  • If a thread from any prior season is summarized during the current season, it is tallied for the current season.
  • Unique refers to a new player character from that season.
