Practice
Practices are a form of scientific magic derived from the world around the mage, using planar Alkahest or the strange laws of reality to manufacture Contrivances and bend the universe to their desire. What a Practice can do is theoretically without limitation, provided the necessary materials are on hand. Practices do not need a Minor Merit to unlock. See Practices.
Practice
History
Though each practice has its own unique origin, all of them were initially ushered into the world by particularly crafty faefolk. Over time, they spread between the Planes and are now each almost ubiquitously embedded to some degree into all Antarokian societies. Even those civilizations who shun individual Practices can never seem to quash them out entirely; for as long as there is Alkahest, practitioners will continue to practice.
Purpose
Practices are methods by which craftsmen utilize Alkahest in combination with mundane materials to create myriad results, ranging from the potions of Alchemistry and the technological wonders of Artifice to the medical miracles of Malediction and more! For more information, please see the individual pages below.
List of Practices
Alchemists break down Alkahest for the transfer of properties and spells between the environment, materials, and people, creating Alkemicals for use in transformative Mutagen or Contrivances. See Alchemistry. |
|
Artificers encode objects with Alkahest-powered Diction, fashioning Automata and Automatricks such as firearms. See Artifice. |
|
Maltricians weave flesh using Saol or Miasmata to mend or modify the living and the dead alike. See Malediction. |
