Overview

Land of the Faefolk and Leanan, Ælphyne is a dangerous place teeming with capricious beings that would sooner abduct and eat a visitor invited to dinner than befriend them. Ælphyne is host to the Metaphor of Saol, associated with life, nature, and ignorance. Time moves 8x as fast here.

History

The true origins of the Plane have been lost to time, as neither the Fae nor Leanan care for meticulous recordkeeping. Some speculate it was the first Plane to emerge from the Ætherium, whilst others claim that it came to be alongside Avernus– one cannot have life without death, after all.

Navigating Ælphyne

Ælphyne exists opposite to Antarok, with the vast caverns of the Ur'Duun spanning between them. One may arrive there by any manner of methods, though Arcadian Causeways, teleportation, and digging through the Ur'duun are the most common.

Arcadian Causeways

Spontaneous pathways that may quickly usher any number of individuals from Antarok to Ælphyne by ferrying them very briefly through Arcadia. They tend to appear as strange tunnels of kaleidoscopic color in plant life, notably large plants such as trees, for seemingly no reason and seemingly random amounts of time. There are locations where these appear to open more often than others, and most mortals tend to steer clear from these areas.

Antarokian parents often use their existence as a method to scare their children, warning them that if they wander too far from home, a Causeway could open and leaving them vulnerable to Fae whimsy.

Life within Ælphyne

What life is like within Ælphyne varies wildly based on a wide array of variables, from by whom settlements are constructed to which Fae Court controls an area. See the following links for more information:
